a) För $x\to\infty$ gäller
$$
\lim_{x\to\infty}\frac{\sqrt{x^2+x-1}+x}{x}
=\lim_{x\to\infty}\left(\sqrt{1+\frac1x-\frac1{x^2}}+1\right)=2.
$$
Vidare
$$
\begin{aligned}
\lim_{x\to\infty}\left(\sqrt{x^2+x-1}-x\right)
&=\lim_{x\to\infty}\frac{x-1}{\sqrt{x^2+x-1}+x}\\
&=\frac12.
\end{aligned}
$$
Alltså är $y=2x+\frac12$ en sned asymptot då $x\to\infty$.
b) Sätt $x=-t$. Då blir
$$
\begin{aligned}
\lim_{x\to-\infty}\left(\sqrt{x^2+x-1}+x\right)
&=\lim_{t\to\infty}\left(\sqrt{t^2-t-1}-t\right)\\
&=\lim_{t\to\infty}\frac{-t-1}{\sqrt{t^2-t-1}+t}=-\frac12.
\end{aligned}
$$
Alltså är $y=-\frac12$ en vågrät asymptot då $x\to-\infty$.
